Visit to Grimeton Radio Station
EuCAP 2025 is organizing a visit to the UNESCO heritage Grimeton Radio Station for the delegates. The visit will take place Saturday the 5th of April. Register now to reserve you spot (limited availability)!
Grimeton is an early longwave transatlantic wireless telegraphy station built in 1922–1924, that has been preserved as a historical site. From the 1920s through the 1940s it was used to transmit telegram traffic by Morse code to North America and other countries, and during World War II was Sweden's only telecommunication link with the rest of the world. It is the only remaining example of an early pre-electronic radio transmitter technology called an Alexanderson alternator. It was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2004.
Please be aware that this site is located on the west coast of Sweden, a 5 to 6 hours bus ride from Stockholm. Delegates that attend this visit are recommended to either fly out from Gothenburg or take a train back to Stockholm on the 6th of April.
Note: The bus travel from Stockholm to Grimeton on the 5th of April, and later in the afternoon from Grimeton to Gothenburg is included. People will have to find their own way home from Gothenburg.
